Gypsy

Alright, alright, this place has got it going on. A one time trendy spot, this place has lost the so called cool people, but remains a nice place to enjoy the company of friends. If your going with a group of people forget the long list of Martinis and order up one of those fine fish bowls, grab a large booth, and enjoy the environment. The decorator of the Gypsy did a fine job in providing a comfortable feeling. Half of the establishment is the bar area and has a dark feel with old pinball score boards up on the wall. The Playboy is my favorite. The other half is the restaurant area, and has a brighter feel and a bar of its own. The outdoor seating is pleasant, but dont go to soak in the sun, the surrounding buildings keep this seating in the shade. Overall I really like this bar/lounge, but it does have a few minor drawbacks. In a previous visit to Gypsy I ran into a little problem I refer to as Public Pee Anxiety (PPA). The urinal and toilet in the mens bathroom are very close together, and with a complete stranger standing next to me I wasnt able to relieve myself. In this situation two things can be done; you can zip up, hang your head, and walk away still having to take a piss, or you can stand there and wait. I decided to wait, and wait, and wait, after what seemed like years the other guy finally left his post and I was able to let it fly. This might seem like a minor problem to some, but for others who suffer from PPA, Im sure you understand what I went through. Beware of the bathroom, but do visit this fantastic bar. Wednesday evenings they have a good beer special and attract a nice twenty-something crowd.

Score 8.
