Horse Brass

If you can find it you'll love it. Hidden in a nice neighborhood on SE Belmont, this bar is one of Portlands best. Modeled after a traditional English Pub, the Horse Brass does a masterful job of making you feel at home. Just walking into the bar brings to mind the classic Cheers song we've all grown to love:

Making your way in the world today takes everything you've got.
Taking a break from all your worries, sure would help a lot.
Wouldn't you like to get away?
Sometimes you want to go where everybody knows your name,
and they're always glad you came.
You wanna be where you can see, our troubles are all the same
You wanna be where everybody knows your name.
You wanna go where people know, people are all the same,
You wanna go where everybody knows your name.

If you go enough, everybody will know your name. One interesting feature of this bar are its classic dart boards. If your like me you get sick of playing with those plastic darts that seem to go every which way but straight. The Horsebrass has real darts and if that weren't enough there free.

Like any good pub the Horse Brass has many choices of beers to drink. But, don't waste your time on some second rate beer, order yourself up a Beamish. This is the only pub in Portland that I've found that serves it, and its one of the main reasons I frequent the Horsebrass. A Beamish is similar to a Guinness, but has a smoother taste.

If you like a good neighborhood pub, come to the Horse Brass.
